About
Our Team
Daniel Schaefer, Founder
Daniel is a writer, educator, and the founder of Invested Citizens. Daniel attended Stanford University where he studied history, religion, and women’s basketball. Infected by the dot-com bug and having seen the power of the internet to change lives and transform the world, he did the most logical thing and went to the woods of Virginia to chop wood, build tents, and help teenagers get their lives back on track. After leaving Virginia, Daniel spent time working at Thurgood Marshall Academy, AVODAH: The Jewish Service Corps, and as a fellow at the PresenTense Institute. He lives in Somerville, MA and enjoys biking, frisbee, biographies, and good movies.
Aaron Devine, Communications Director
The common threads of Aaron’s interests have long been community and storytelling. Since graduating from Boston University with a B.A. in English, Aaron has worked, traveled, and volunteered in Washington D.C., Nicaragua, Venezuela, Peru, Argentina, and his native Twin Cities (of MN). He is a juggler, Polytropos, pana, tennis player, and author of children’s stories. Aaron joined Invested Citizens because he believes that real change comes from you and me.
Our Story
Invested Citizens is a story we are creating together.
It is the story of what it means to be a human being in the 21st century.
It is a story that we are creating through our conversations, through our actions, and through our investments.
It is a story that is being written, filmed, blogged, lived, and shared every day by billions of people around the world, where they live and work, when they eat and pray, with friends, family, and coworkers.
We choose to make this story public and to invite your participation because it is a story that cannot be told without you. Our story is about interdependence, abundance, and equality. We welcome your participation in telling this story with us.
If you are still curious about what inspires Invested Citizens, what were key moments in forming the organization, and what lies ahead, keep checking the blog. We’ll share our thoughts with you there.
